It is for scrapbooking. Anybody have any tutorials?
Two approaches…
Open the image you want to process.
Check to see what the dimensions and resolution are.
Before you do anything to the image, open a new blank file.
Check the dimension and resolution of the new file.
- If they don’t match your original, change them.
Fill the new file with any color you want for your background color.
Go back to your original file.
Choose the eliptical marquee tool.
Set the feather to 10-20 pixels.
Select an oval around your main subject.
Copy it with [CTRL]+[C].
Go back to the file with your background color.
Display the copied selection with [CTRL]+[V].
Merge the visible layers with [CTRL]+[SHIFT]+[E].
Voila!
—[ALTERNATE APPROACH]—
—[Stolen from another answer]—
1. Add a new blank layer to the image
2. Use the elliptical marquee tool to draw where you want the vignette.
3. Go to Select>Feather and enter the radius to make it fade. Use something like 20-30 to start, depending on the size of the image, but you can go as large as 250 if you want a very gradual fade.
4. Hit Shift+Ctrl+I or go to Select>Inverse
5. Go to Edit>Fill and fill with black or any other color.
6. Hit Ctrl+D to deselect.
Because it’s on another layer, you can adjust the opacity of your vignette or add a layer mask to adjust it.

Please hear me out. Im 22 and soon to be engaged to my boyfriend. I know guys dont usually apprecoate scrapbooking from their girlfriend but i was thinking to write a short novel/story about our romantic relationship. How it started off and where we are at the moment. Inc some photos, convos, etc but mainly a writing chunk!!! Hope that makes sense!! I wanted to type it up and get it professionally bound and embossed. So it looks manly/masculine and like a published book (except its private for him and me). Would he apprciate this more. GUYS – would you appreciate this if ure girlfriend gave it to you?!?! Please advise!!
Sorry, I’m not a guy, but I’d like to give my opinion anyway because I spent most of my life married.
A man may smile and say, "Oh thanks, that’s sweet" and he might read it through, but it would be a source of vague embarrassment and would probably be hidden in a drawer for fear any other man would ever see it.
That’s way too mushy for most guys.
You don’t want to remove from a relationship all the excitement of the hunt.
If you always let a man know that you feel irrevocably bonded to him you introduce clinginess and become too much of a "sure thing." You fade into the wall and might as well be a piece of furniture.
Men want a feeling that they have through great luck found a valuable woman that other men want. It’s what keeps the excitement in a marriage.
So I think little gestures of love are better than being joined at the hip with sappy emotions.
If you must give him something, give him a photo album of your prettiest pictures doing some athletic or dangerous thing. Crowd scenes are good, to remind him that you do get out into the world.
My apologies if any of this does not apply to your relationship, or if I have gone too far.
But I would not have been married so many years if I had let myself lose control of the mystery of attraction.

I am getting into digital scrapbooking, and am excited about all the free stuff you can download online. I am, however, a little aprehensive about downloading. Has anyone ever run into a digital scrapbooking site I should stay away from (spyware, viruses, etc.)? Thanks!
I guess BlueBell would be one that I would stay away from as it doesn’t have as many features as some.
I have only used PhotoMix software for my digital scrapbooking. It works for me as I like to make many collages and such.
Hope that helps

I am the proud new momma of a two month old daughter, and I would love to start scrapbooking. I just don’t know where or what to begin. Please help.
I found my public library to be the most helpful place when I started scrapbooking. There are a lot of books with great ideas! If you don’t know how to locate them, ask a librarian. They’re there to help.
That said, here are several tips to keep in mind.
You want your scrapbook to last, so keep an eye on your materials. You want them all to be acid free – it will keep them from discoloring (and falling apart!) over the years.
Remember that this book isn’t just for you – it’s for the future too! Don’t just paste photos in, remember to also include "journaling" – writing that tells the story. Think of the stories you wanted to know about when you (or your grandmother) was little. The stories are the important part! If you have to be there to explain the photo, the scrapbook isn’t doing you any good.
I have the best luck finding good (and inexpensive) materials by looking in the clearance sections of my local craft stores (Michaels and AC Moores). Also keep an eye out for good sales – My local Big Lots had big packs (25 sheets) of acid free paper for a dollar last week. Jo Anns has scrapbook paper on sale 6 for a dollar this week.
If you need (or want) help from a real person, find a "crop night" in your area (Michaels sponsors them in the stores, if there’s one near you and a lot of the independent stores host them as well). Crops will give you an opportunity to see what other people are doing, get some new opinions and often try out new products (like special cutters and punches).

I’m planning on making a scrapbook (and I don’t intend to buy one) but what can I use to make the scrapbook cover? Please don’t say wood or leather, because I don’t have any of those!
Well you can,
* splash different colors of paint all over the book.
*or you can cut your favorite celebreties, singers, authors, or illustrators and stick in a messy place.
*or you can cut your pictures, family picture, class pictures, friends etc.. and stick it.
*get a piece of old cloth, like jeans and cut it and staple it to the copy book from down and add little flowers or stuff the pops, or u can put it plain.
*or get a news paper cut it in different sizes and stick it.
Hope i helped honey

I haven’t scrapbooked before and was wondering what you guys recommend for a beginner.
I do both. scrapbooking by hand can quickly become very expensive! Believe my I have piles of the stuff and many plans for it all, but I don’t seem to have enough time to work on it. But the results are lovely!!
I work on my digital scrapbooking at work, on breaks. This way I can work on anything and not have to carry a bunch of products around with me. However, word to the wise — take some time to learn about various programs before you commit to anything. You may want to work with a tutorial type book, or enroll in a class.
My favorite for the price is Photoshop Elements. I have Photoshop CS on my desktop if I need to do something that PE can’t handle. There are some great books and websites out there. Many digital scrapbook sites will have examples, discussion boards, and often you can find some freebies to play with.
You will also have to consider if you will be printing your pages, and if so how. The sizes you can print on your printer, if you need a new printer, how long the ink will last without fading, etc. If you are going to assemble your pages into a slideshow, then you will probably need another program, and will want to make sure that you have a DVD burning program.
Good luck!

I am trying to find the best way to advertise my scrapbooking services and products. Does anybody out there enjoy scrapbooking? What are some ways to expand my services to more people who love scrapbooking?
I recommend visiting scrapbooking forums and posting your services on their sites, if the forum rules allow it. Alternatively, do you have a website? There are many hosting companies that can help you create a website even with average computer experience. Alternatively, have you considered attending your community fairs this spring and summer to have a booth? You might contact your local city government and find out if you can teach a class for free on scrapbooking how-to’s for the community rec center. Go to senior centers, church groups, and volunteer to teach them. You’ll have a chance to introduce yourself and tastefully tell them you offer these services. Don’t make it a strong sales job, just get your name out there.
