I’ve been into digital scrapbooking and siggy making for awhile, and I love all the cute kits!! I was wanting to know of some great Photoshop CS3 tutorials out there that teaches you to make your own digi scrap kits.
I feel like the digi scrap scene is pretty competitive. Some people will give good info but most seems to be each designers secret and they don’t share freely or will charge you a lot to be in their membership sites. But it is more than trial and error I think. I think if you can do sigs your pretty good. You just need to make those same items but larger. A great blog that I like is http://scrap-stuff-photoshop-tutorials.blogspot.com/ there are also a lot of good Yahoo groups to join. Search for digital scrapbook groups and you can find some good weekly teachings there. Do it with a friend and maybe you can help each other. Also go blog hunting at Blogger there are tons of blogs out there all dedicated to digi scrapping.

I’ve been pretty bored all summer and would like to start a hobby. I was thinking of jewelery making. Nothing too fancy or expensive. I’ve found plenty of tutorials online. And I could sell them online, make a little money. But I’m not sure. I’m 15, going into 10th grade. I’ve tried knitting and scrapbooking, so nothing of that sort. Does anyone have any other ideas for some other things I could try?
One thing you could try is web designing.
Like starting your own website of something
you like (ex. whateverlife.com is started by a
17 year old that was into myspace.) She is now
a millionaire just from ads being put onto her site.
If your not interested in that than the jewelry sounds
good. Im not really sure waht else, because im looking
for a hobbie myself.

in gimp? I download free scrap frames and usually, I do one of these things: I erase the picture unto the shape of the frame (usually a circle) and put frame over it, put frame (if it’s easy) on page, save page, put picture over frame, put second copy of page overtop, erase into frame, then put another copy of frame over to even out the erased picture so that it doesn’t look bad, OR if it’s a square picture and a square frame (or basically) I will stretch the frame over it. now this does not work for a really intricate frame usually. how would I do this? I can’t find a tutorial, no one uses gimp, and I am very slow at understanding tutorials anyways.I tried learning how to use a photomask in gimp many times and I just can’t get it based on the ONE tutorial I found. (I have a TON laying around on my computer but I don’t know how to use em) if any of you could help me out on either accounts, I’d really appreciate it. thanks.
I don’t think any of you understand. say a frame is roses and wire. I’m not going to sit there and erase all the parts of the pic outside the frame. that’s too time consuming. I know a lot of people who use scrap kits and frames like this who DO NOT sit there and erase every picture like this. I have some friends who run design sites and do it for EVERYONE like an assembly line so I know it can be done quick and easy. But they all use photoshop and I don’t want to use that, so none of them can tell me how to do it. apparently I’ll have to ask someonethe next time i download a kit how to use it…. dang….
response 4: you seem to know what you’re talking about, but I’m still confused. lol um…. thanks for letting me know though! I’m gonna email these to my husband in iraq and have him do it and see if he can explain it better to me (in learning gimp, he watches tutorials, then figures out how to do it, and then shows me simplified cuz I"m not all that bright when it comes to computers… so thanks for your response and hopefully he will understand it enough to explain it to me! Bravo to the use of a picture to show me… i’m still confused though. not you fault. I need very explicite explanation…. – like go to this, click this, and then go here…. kinda thing)
with use of layers, there is no need to erase outer area, the frame and page layout can go over the photos layers, this would cover the parts you don’t want to erase,
search for scrapbooking frame to use , or design new layout,
http://www.deviantart.com/#order=9&q=scrapbooking+frame
open in gimp,
then drag and drop your images onto window in new layers,
duplicate bottom frame, and move to top layer,
select image layers and moveinto open window sections,
turn resize, adjust colors, save as xcf.
then save copy as jpg
frames with cutouts are png or gif, png are better,
if frames are jpg, you can try layer overlay modes to make white transparent,
or select white with wand,
feather edges 3 pixels and delete ,

____
Adobe Photoshop would be the same, and with use of preset frames, where as Adobe PS Elements would have effects added in, or programs like Corel Painter Essentials ,
