Question about Digital Scrapbooking..?

I would like to start making my own digital scrapbooking materials, such as embellishments, papers, numbers, and all that fun stuff. Does anyone know how to start? Or where i can go to watch a tutorial or even buy a program that will show me how to get the different textures and stuff?

And i dont mean how to put together a page, i mean MAKE all the things myself. Like start from scratch.

Most of the digital scrapbookers I know use Photoshop or Corel Draw to make their designs and elements.

When scrapbooking and buying special background paper, do you still use the album paper?

I am just getting into scrapbooking due to the new addition in my family. I am wondering, when you go out and purchase the nice pretty background paper, do you glue that to the provided white paper of the scrapbook or do you omit the white paper and just use the pretty paper?

I have chosen to not glue anything to the scrapbook white board. I figured if I need to change my mind on order of the pages, it’s impossible with something glued to both sides. So I just get a background paper and attach everything to that, then slide it in (in front of the white page). If you mean, do you utilize the white paper as part of the background, and just decorate the white paper…no, I don’t do that either. I like lots of decoration and cover every square inch.
Either way, your choice.

Scrapbookers — do you take to many pictures of your kids?

But seriously, do you feel like you are taking to many pictures?

I am so thankful for my digital camera so I don’t have to think about how many I take!

The other day I took a picture of my 10 year old reading! I can’t wait to scrap it and journal what a great reader she is!

Way too many. But what surprised me was right before my son graduated I realized that from about 12 on I only had 4 or 5 pics of him a year. But I have tons of albums & large plastic boxes of pics still waiting from before then. He jokes I lost interest once he quit being so cutesy. lol!

What are good websites for free scrapbook downloads?

I’m doing a scrapbook for my grandma and need some print outs for a new york page. Does anyone have any suggetsions. Especially one where you don’t have to go through 5 minutes of surveys and free trials. Thanks for any help!

Making Digital Scrapbook Kits?

I’ve been into digital scrapbooking and siggy making for awhile, and I love all the cute kits!! I was wanting to know of some great Photoshop CS3 tutorials out there that teaches you to make your own digi scrap kits.

I feel like the digi scrap scene is pretty competitive. Some people will give good info but most seems to be each designers secret and they don’t share freely or will charge you a lot to be in their membership sites. But it is more than trial and error I think. I think if you can do sigs your pretty good. You just need to make those same items but larger. A great blog that I like is http://scrap-stuff-photoshop-tutorials.blogspot.com/ there are also a lot of good Yahoo groups to join. Search for digital scrapbook groups and you can find some good weekly teachings there. Do it with a friend and maybe you can help each other. Also go blog hunting at Blogger there are tons of blogs out there all dedicated to digi scrapping.

Any good ideas for 4×6 special pics?

Hi guys. My Mom has been gone for a few years now. I would love to take some or alot of the just regular prints of Her and our family and display them somehow where my visitors can see them.
I am not into scrapbooking.. So that isnt an option.
Any great ideas out there?

Hello Stacie.

Well the ideas by jm11680 and foofoo are certainly good ones. Just be sure to buy frames with glass that has a UV block in it – stops pictures from fading. Also make certain anything you mount a picture to is specified as being suitable for mounting pictures. If it says "archival quality" then that’s what you should buy. Check with lightimpressions.com for a detailed explanation and product list.

Unfortunately, I have to give Nena a "thumbs down". Mounting pictures to a non-archival surface is a sure way to ruin them. Using glue or tape is also a major no-no when mounting pictures.

Does anyone have an idea of how to organize scrapbooking templates?

I have a bunch of scrapbooking templates that I use to crop photos, and I need a way to keep them organized. If you also love scrapbooking I would assume you would be able to help me the most, but I’m open to all suggestions!

I used to keep mine in 3-ring binders, because most of them came already punched with holes for storage. I recently changed my whole craft area and now use a filing cabinet. I’ve placed the templates in hanging folders, filed by shape: circles, hearts, squares, rectangles, and ovals. I usually know what shape I want before I pull out the templates, so it is just a matter of pulling that file and sizing the template to the photo.
